Art
Is for
Everyone.

Why Princeton Needs This.
Princeton, Texas is growing. Quickly. But growth and community aren't the same thing. People arrive here from far away (sometimes very far) and find themselves without a single local friend. Loneliness, even in the fastest-growing city in the United States, is still loneliness.
Holy Smocks exists to close that gap.Not with a paid membership.Not with a waitlist.Just art.A table.A room.Every Thursday.
"We can put an end to the despair that is most people's situation when
moving to a new city."
Creativity
Paint, sketch, collage, or just sit and watch. Making things with your hands is an act of reclaiming something quiet and powerful that most adults have lost.
Community
Real friendships start somewhere. We think they start by being in a room together, without an agenda, making something you care about.
Christ
Rooted in the belief that every person is worth belonging to something. Open to everyone — faith, no faith, any faith. The table is wide.
The Founder's Perspective
I Started This Because I Was Frustrated Too.
Princeton is a city where people come from far away lands, who don't have local friends - yet. Someday there will be more communal spaces in the city, but right now there are limited options for people to gather.
Holy Smocks isn't just a club: it's a direct response to that need. Every Thursday, the door is open. The supplies are there. The people are real.
We treasure your donations of art supplies. A donation box lives at Boba Cafe (if you want to contribute, although it will never be required).

You Probably
Want to Know…
Is Holy Smocks actually free?
Yes. No ticket. No membership. No donation gate. There's a box at the cafe for those who want to chip in for supplies — but it's completely optional, and you're never turned away for not donating.
Do I have to make a purchase at the cafe?
No. Our benefactor, Mark - owner of Boba Cafe - makes his shop available to us whether we purchase drinks and food or not. He is generous and committed to helping us achieve our vision of beating loneliness! But the food and drinks are wonderful if you want to partake!
Do I need any artistic ability?
None. This isn't a class, a critique, or a portfolio review. It's a room full of people making things. The bar is: show up. That's it.
What do I bring?
Yourself. Supplies are provided and shared. If you have something specific you love to work with — a favorite pen, a sketchbook — bring it. Otherwise, come empty-handed and we've got you.
Is this a faith-based event?
Holy Smocks is rooted in Christian values, and we take time to pray together every week. The goal for us is to show God's love to everyone, whether you are religious or not.
I just moved to Princeton. Will I be the only stranger?
Being new here is almost a founding criterion for this group. Many people at the table are figuring out Princeton together. You will absolutely not be the only one.
No signup. No cost. Just art and friends.
